This from Gen. Petraeus, the commander of the 101th AB div in the 2003 invasion of Iraq, the commander of the Multinational Force in Iraq between 2007 and 2008, and the former Director of the CIA. So, the argument goes, Confederate generals don't deserve recognition because they were traitors and served an evil government for an unjust cause. But what about Petraeus himself, did he serve his government for a just cause? Ie the unprovoked invasion of a sovereign country leading to the destabilization of a whole region and unspeakable tragedies? If those confederate generals should have refused to serve their country (which for them was the Southern States) in an unjust cause in the XIX century, then what about the generals fighting for American military adventures today?
