Well I am no fan of British or any other kind of imperialism myself. And I agree there are issues to do with Islamophobia and anti-Arab racism and propaganda. Even so, it cannot be denied that there are many elements of Islamic societies that are deeply regressive and repressive - and not just in the obvious cases like Saudi Arabia, the Islamic Republic of Iran and Sudan either. Also, most of the earlier MENA and South Asian migration (distinct from the much more recent one) was encouraged by Western governments to fulfill post-war labour shortages.
Yeah I know. I was just responding to Kamal's claim that the Torah putatively shows how violent Judaism is.All Abrahamic religions contain violence. However Christianity was also violent but it went through reformation and it also gained strong European influence through Hellenistic philosophy and ideals. It was also more open to other ideas with the rise of the Protestant movement but even then we have seen many of violence that Christians have done to others and themselves.
