I would like to ask for this thread to be purged and moved to the new Germanic group.

As one said above, I think that the only good germanic union would be the Benelux union.

Having seen what a snake pit much of Europe is, I think it would be better for us to return to the old policy of neutrality in Europe. The Netherlands should work with the Germanic countries through its Benelux membership and be exchanging EU membership for that of the EFTA and through that, the EEA (being smarter than the British by keeping our full access to the Common Market). People may complain that we will have to swallow the EU's rules and regulations: we are 17 million strong, population wise, we don't have a voice anyway, but at least we keep a reasonable amount of sovereignty, and we can start by negotiating for opt-outs like Denmark currently has, and keep those opt-outs in an exit treaty. After that, we can focus more on overseas trade and economic and cultural collaboration with the former overseas colonies. On the military front, I propose rearmament and leaving NATO.
Wake up and smell the coffee.

I have actually nothing to do with other Germanic countries. Maybe culturally with Austria and Switzerland. I lived very close to the Netherlands and Belgium, but I don´t think they are that close culturally. Maybe a bit. There must me similarities of course.
