From a very specific moment, in which the typical topics about Spain appeared, called "Leyenda amarilla"
The English suddenly found an ally against Napoleon in the Spanish people. All the negative clichés of the Black legend became positive.
Interest in Spain increased, but in an exotic Spain, not only different, but exceptional, basically identified with the Andalusian. The romantic topic of the "Arab past, the haughtiness of the Spanish character, feminine beauty, the love of bullfighting, superstitious popular religiosity..." They wanted to see in Spain the ideals of honor, patriotic and religious fervor, the pure and primary values that civilization was destroying in Europe.
