In essence, the main similarities is the fact that both groups comes closest to bronze age groups of corded ware, so they have a mutual strength in regards to genetic affinities towards a common ancestor, they both largely derive from the corded ware which would give them both corded ware phenotypes no? The only group today that has truly capitulated the corded ware phenotypes are the germanic, same can be said for proto indo iranian, going based off of genetic affinities alone is kind of a rudimentary method, bell beaker and modern and ancient germanics had a substantial genetic overlap yet looked different, so in order to decipher the difference you got to look at their ancestral components, bell beakers were more farmer shifted and since they had a open contact with them, whilst the germanics more yamnya/corded ware shifted who were more robust and dolichocephalic, you can see a pattern there, as in indo iranian case, the latter is the consensus amongst academics.
