For a start, both were heavily colonised by the British and thus many countries in both regions have English as an official language. But the main point is this: you think the globalisation of English is good for promoting the universal brotherhood of man and the breakdown in barriers between people, yet at the same time you are vehemently opposed to free movement and interactions between people - at least if they involve Africans and MENAs, at any rate.

It's a mix of both. If it were just about numbers then more people would learn chinese and that does not to seem the case.

For now, but let us wait another few years when China's economy surpasses the USA's (in absolute size, that is, not GDP per capita of course) and the country flexes its muscles even more than it does now.
