What is there to defend on gypsies? I don't know about Serbia, but from Greeks and how they behave here, there's nothing to be actually proud for. He just acknowledged reality.

It's normal not to defend something blindly just because you belong by blood to it.

If someone was born in a tribe of Cannibals, it does not mean he has to defend their culture, traditions and cuisine. People are usually blinded and see everything theirs as superior, perfect, they cannot criticize anything own.

Cannibals were an extreme example, I do not equate Gyps and Cannibals.

The thing is that there are even people who don't see a problem about being a cannibal and defend cannibalism.
