Rail is dead. Buses or aircraft depending on your financial situation or location.
Nine out of ten concerns are completely unfounded.

Air or car in the US. Few trains except in a limited area of the NE. Buses if you want to study American crazies and most city bus stops are in the war zones.

I refuse to be fondled and forced to feel like a criminal by the TSA so no place I can't drive.

Both are equally convenient, depending on where you need to go. Country train services have also been made significantly more affordable in the last year, now cheap as chips. One plus of buses is that you rarely have to sit facing strangers or stand, a reality of metropolitan trains. The rail service in Victoria at least is good, probably one of the better ones in the world without being high-speed, but interstate rail in Australia is terrible and always has been (all states have different track gauges believe it or not, going back to when they were separate colonies), all other options for interstate travel are better.
    Spoiler!

Which is best depends on your final destination. Between trains and buses, I prefer trains, but our bus network covers a much larger part of the country. For a large number of towns and small cities, the bus is the only viable transportation option if you don't have a car.

I don't use any for traveling in Portugal or Spain, I usually use my car. If my destination is beyond Madrid, then I choose to fly unless I intend to stop and stay in various places along the way.

When I travelled from Porto to Galicia, I initially attempted to go by train, but it was so convoluted that I gave up and travelled with the InterNorte coach company instead.

Trains in Sweden are good and efficient, but not that reliable. Especially during wintertime. It's been that way for the past 30 or 40 years. You do have to take the train, though, if you are going to travel between smaller municipalities. Otherwise, if you are to take the bus, you have to take a ride into the city and switch bus there which will take longer. Although when trains get cancelled, they will put in a substitute bus.

Unfortunately, my big dream will never come true. I would really like to go to Nashville, On the Greyhound bus through the USA. I want to see all the big stars Which I always saw in pictures. Then we go to the Grand Ole Opry. To Ernest Tubb and Dicky Lee. I would really like to go to Nashville, Nashville Tennessee. Morti's American Dream

Train by far. But in certain areas including mine cars are the best means of travel more so. I was going to put air but here the tickets are expensive and the service is not that good apparently.
    =(^.^)=

Also I don't do classifications currently, sorry.
