They look somewhere in between. Or better said, southern Europeans developed their own distinct set of looks that often overlap with both Middle Easterners and northern Europeans alike.. Even on PCA, southern European countries are like the fence between the Middle Eastern cluster and the general European cluster.

These Greeks below, don’t look typical in Northern Europe nor most Middle Eastern countries.. they look exclusively Mediterranean.. though I’d say there is a strong overlap with some specific Middle Eastern countries like Turkey or Lebanon:

The Spaniards in that picture are very tanned so that already gives an illusion.

I would say Spaniards look a hundred precent more similar to both groups than they do any MENA group. However, obviously, they have some overlap with coastal North Africans.. as do Sardinians, French people, Italians, and the Portuguese to different degrees..

False, since the looks you're talking about also transfer over to central-Eastern Europe/Black Sea coast Europe, the northern Caucasus, and Atlantic Coast Europe..
