My last patriarchal grandpa to be born and died in France was Crown prosecutor of France. He was attorney general to the king.

Most surprising were a goldsmith and two Hof- und Feldtrompeter (court and field trumpeters) in the 17th century.

    Spoiler!

Nothing surprising. They were shepherds, living more natural and healthy life in mountain villages.

Most surprising to me is a North Carolina Great Grandfather on my Mom's side who was listed as a farmer but I was told he was also a blacksmith and a gunsmith. I have medieval noble and royal ancestry on my maternal Grandmother's side.
A Pennsylvanian Great Grandfather was a coal miner.
A Great Grandfather on my father's side was a butcher in New Jersey.
On my father's side I descend from Resolved Waldron who was a sheriff in New Amsterdam (today's Manhattan) under Governor Peter Stuyvesant in the late 1600's.
