I agree, I think Italy in the 1920s until 1935 was an admirable success,

I mostly approve of Mussolini until he became greedy about having a large empire,
and invaded Abyssinia and aligned himself with Hitler.

Franco was the best dictator;
if Mussolini or Hitler would have been domestic like Franco (and without a civil war),
then they would have been in power for decades more with a much more positive legacy.

I think Italy from the later 1940s to later 1960s was also doing very well, blooming culturally and economically.

Italy before the 20th century is very difficult for me to imagine for some reason.
