I opened this thread because I have a vested interest in Germanic Paganism, although I haven't had a chance to read much about it or find useful informative texts devoid of any agenda (other than simply teaching people about the traditions).
I only know very little, that which I accumulated from myths and folklores, read to me by mummy dearest and my grandmother, as well as the occasional brief (and superifical) mentions in books about horses due to the Sleipnir connection.
So I am opening this thread in hopes (after briefly browsing the section from time to time) of learning more. Offer any of your insight, wether you practice it yourself or are simply knowlegeable on the subject. Any recommendations of books is also very welcome since I'm an avid reader.
And to start the ball rolling I have a question:
What (and who) are the Æsir and the Vanir and why Asatru rather than Vanatru (or vice-versa)?
I thank you in advance for taking the time to respond.
