this is the most major snp associated with light skin mutation in europeans, west asians and some southasians etc.

it is since longer known, and has something to do with Vitamin D. East Asians have mostly GG and their light skin is convergent evolution east asian light skin genes are absent in europeans and european light skin genes are absent in east asians. Africans also have GG.

it is present in Europeans 98.7-100% while 93-100% in East Asians, Indigenous Americans and African Americans. It is a ancestral informative marker. But also in most of middle easterners and many southasians. So it could be pan-caucasoid.

No the GG in the first SNP has to do with eye colour not skin colour. The other two SNPs here code for skin colour.

Excellent post as you gave the descriptions of the SNPs and what your results mean. As we can see then the first SNP is for eye colour and the other two are for skin colour.

maybe it has to do with both, my source says it has to do with skin colour, and maybe it is correlated because people with red hair or light eyes usually have lighter skin and are more skin sensitive to sun. i didnt know the descriptions thanks to bravado for posting them but my genetic study/sources says "light skin colour has more stringent conditions at ....." so it does it has to do with skin colour somehow.

Yes, rs12913832 is used to predict both eye and skin color. GG at rs12913832 positively correlates with both not brown eyes and not dark skin.

Eye Color Prediction

1. AA at rs12913832 predicts not blue (brown or green).
1(a). If (1) and CC at rs16891982 or GG at rs6119471 or GG at rs12896399 predicts brown.
1(b). If (1) and TT at rs12203592 predicts green.

2. GA at rs12913832 predicts not blue (brown or green).

If you have GA or AA at rs12913832, it does not imply not light skin.
