What we see is, compared to the Cypriot cluster, with the following averages, Cretans and Sicilians are clearly "European". I am afraid posts in the past of mine gave the wrongful impression that I did not consider these groups to be European, but that I considered them like Cypriots. There is still a noticeable genetic difference to Cyprus, even though all of these are considerably shifted toward Cyprus compared to other Europeans.
I have also posted this in response to a new poster's claims that Crete and Cyprus are genetically identical. Not so.
Cypriots (sample of 11)
West Asian: 36.7
Atlantic-Baltic: 9.6
Red Sea: 7.7
Mediterranean: 45.9

Now, for comparison, here are some results.
Peloponnesian Greek (southern mainland):
West Asian: 23.4
Atlantic-Baltic: 33.5
Red Sea: 3.4
Mediterranean: 39
Clearly, as a mainland Greek, this person is much more northern than the results below it, but it's for point of reference.
Aegean islander (Samos, Chios):
West Asian: 23.5
Atlantic-Baltic: 27.8
Red Sea: 4.7
Mediterranean: 43.1
Atlantic-Baltic is THREE times as high as in the Cypriot, and West Asian is over 12% less. Moreover, they are closer to the Peloponnesians than the Cretans/Sicilians.
Sicilian from Messina:
West Asian: 26.6
Atlantic-Baltic: 18.5
Red Sea: 5
Mediterranean: 47.4
Atlantic-Baltic is TWO times as high as in a Cypriot, and West Asian is 10% less.
Sicilian from Palermo:
West Asian: 24.7
Atlantic-Baltic: 22
Red Sea: 5.7
Mediterranean: 46.5
Atlantic-Baltic is 13% higher than in a Cypriot, with a roughly equal decrease in West Asian.
Cretan Greek:
West Asian: 31
Atlantic-Baltic: 22.3
Red Sea: 5.9
Mediterranean: 40.7
West Asian is 5% lower than the Cypriot, but Atlantic-Baltic is 13% higher!
Calabrese:
West Asian: 30.9
Atlantic-Baltic: 19.6
Red Sea: 5.8
Mediterranean: 42.1
Nearly identical to the Cretan Greek, but SLIGHTLY lower Atlantic-Baltic; still, more European than the Cypriot.
