I finally got my 23andme DNA test results
Speculative:
33.8% British & Irish
3.6% French and German
30.4% Broadly European
6.9% Italian
5.4% Iberian
.3% Sardinian
11.1% Broadly Southern European
8.5% Broadly European
58905
58906
58907
Does my phenotype match my results? And how should I interpret my results? They didn't really match up to what I expected. Many people on here think I'm MENA, Latino, or at least very Med in general, but I got 100% European even despite being ~1.5% Algonquin.

This makes no sense.
Make screenshots of your whole profile, with percentage of European and the rest, your DNA profile and haplogroups and your predicted countries of origin.

This would be the result of someone plotting with Belgian or even South Dutch, the "Brit & Irish" as a cluster is very intense in pulling someone's North but it depends on what you get on spec AND standard with the full breakdown.

I'm very busy right now and don't have great access to the internet since I'm in Myanmar, but when I go back home in a couple of days I'll be able to post screenshots. It said I'm 100% European though. 0% of anything else. My y is R1b1b2a1a and my mtdna is H.
As for predicted countries of origin, I'm 50% French Canadian with small bits of Native American and Iberian Influence. 25% Irish and 25% Central + Southern Italian.

For standard, I get basically nothing. It says
98.5% European
British & Irish 9.8%
Broadly Northern Euro 34.1^
Iberian - 1.4%
Italian - .3%
Broadly Southern Euro - 8.2%
Broadly European - 44.6%
1.5% is left unassigned.

Also, if anyone can help explain to me how to view Gedmatch's interpretation of my results, I'd greatly appreciate it.
Edit: I now understand how to view their interpretations, I just don't understand what they mean all the time.

That's what I told you from the beginning, without a doubt you looked 100% euro, southwestern to be exact. (I remember I posted on your thread like 10 times :D)

I think you look like a Northern and Southern Euro mix. Like an Irish and Italian mix with an emphasis on heavy eyebrows.

I remember you did say this right from the beginning :D But a large proportion still thought I was MENA or mixed with SSA which doesn't appear at all

You mean conservative or it is standard ? Jumping from 0 to 1.5% unassigned is a lot for a 100% Euro in spec especially with no noise at all. How much do you get in conservative? if it isn't conservative.

Your Iberian is probably from your French ancestry especially if southern French.

got my gedmatch results, and it said I plotted closest to French by the least squares method. I think 23andme just doesn't plot french very well. I got Catalan for 2nd by the least squares method.

I'm surprised it didn't report much of my Italian ancestry. I also assume its from the French part, but I wonder if some Italian got mixed into the Iberian.

it was standard. That 1.5% should be from my Native American side, which is around 1.5-3%

I doubt it. I think most of your Italian is in the Nonspecific Southern European.

Western Europe. My mother is mtdna H by the way (through her Madeiran side).

Put screen captures.
And yes, use gedmatch because 23andme is not enough to figure out your actual ancestry.

Some of your French&German would be in the British&Irish because all French get high amounts of British&Irish. Strangely enough my mother who is all Irish gets more French&German than you do but that's genetic testing at the moment. A lot of English people get even more French&German. Your ydna appears to be R1b-U106. It will be really interesting to see some of your Gedmatch results. That's a lot of fun to play around with. Did you get any NA at all in your results? The lack of NA appears to cause a lot of angst among a lot of people.

Yeah, I was quite surprised to see such high British and Irish since I'm only 25% Irish, but what you say makes sense. French and dna testing doesn't seem to be very accurate given the ban in france on dna testing. I didn't get any NA in my 23andme, but I'm not sure about gedmatch yet.

Gedmatch picks up NA even in full Europeans. It must be related to ANE. It would be interesting to see what amounts you get.

1.38 Amerindian?
How do I interpret the least squares method by the way? I understand that the lower the number, the closer, but its hard to know whats close and whats not.

Yes the lower the number the closer your genetics match the population. The 4 way result is often the closest. I've had over 3% on one program which I can't remember. It's just that ancient Steppe ancestry.

This is what I got from Euro Genes K-13
1 French @ 5.940366
2 Spanish_Cataluna @ 7.987049
3 Spanish_Castilla_Y_Leon @ 9.577341
4 Portuguese @ 9.581956
5 Spanish_Murcia @ 10.175156
The Rest were all Spanish, but I figured anything past ~10 wasn't really worth posting. Interesting that every ethnicity I got was Iberian or close to Iberian.
Also every match that includes 3 or 4 ethnicities includes French Basque, which I think is interesting.
