View Full Version : Papuan/Denisovan as signal of ANE ancestry

So I noticed some interesting things
In Europe Finns have most Neanderthal ancestry but the least amount of Denisovan ancestry (Spain and Italy give false lower numbers because Basal Eurasian overrides all archaic nonhuman ancestry. In absolute terms they have definitely more)

Native Americans, East Asians and South Asians have high levels of New Guinean and Denisovan ancestry <- these two work as a signal of same thing.
Some Siberians have also low levels Denisovan ancestry and very high levels of Neanderthal ancestry. This to me points that either ANE or East Asian parts of ANE originated in South East Asia.

I thought that the Sami, Tuscans and Albanians had the most Neanderthal according to studies?

Well there are no Saami, Tuscan or Albanian references in the stuff I posted. Different methods tend to give a little different results. I leave it up to you to decide which you wanna believe in.

Idk, I’d say that northern Euros have the most although in general Europeans probably have a similar amount of Neanderthal admix

Our results also show a consistent signal of a low-level of
Denisovan ancestry outside of Oceania, in populations of East
Eurasia and the Americas. Although this signal does not reach
significance in all populations (fig. 4), given how widespread
the signal is, it seems most reasonable to assume that all EE/
NA populations probably do harbor some Denisovan ancestry.
The actual amount of Denisovan ancestry is difficult to
estimate directly as it is so low. As it was previously estimated
that the Denisovan-related ancestry in EE/NA populations is
3.8–4.8% of that in Oceania (Prufer et al. 2014), combining
this information with our new estimate of approximately
3.5% Denisovan ancestry in New Guinea and Australian
leads to estimates of Denisovan ancestry in EE/NA populations
of 0.13–0.17%. We would expect full genome sequences
to provide more accurate estimates.
As with Oceanian populations, the Denisovan ancestry in
EE/NA populations is correlated with their New Guinean ancestry.
However, unlike Oceanian populations, the Denisovan
ancestry in EE/NA populations is equally correlated with
their Australian ancestry, and moreover EE/NA populations
are just as closely related to Australians as they are to New
Guineans.

Denisovan ancestry in Eastern Eurasian and Native American populations is estimated to be 0.13–0.17%, or 3.8–4.8% of that in Oceaniaians. A back migration from New Guinea to mainland East Asia may have spread Denisovan ancestry throughout East Asia and Siberia, and the Americas. Denisovan DNA was carried into Asia by migrants from Oceania, who could not physically reach Europe. Any low number of Denisovan DNA in a European population (<0.01) was introduced by ancient Siberians migrated to Europe, who may overlap with ANE.

West Eurasians have more Papuan ancestry than Siberians. This is because ANE originated in South East Asia. The reason why Siberians don't get Denisovan is because they are descendants of ENAb and West Eurasianx. West Eurasianx is something nonWHG, nonANE undefined nonEast Eurasian ancestry which in lack of proper reference gets slammed into ANE in traditional admix test. ENAb is East Eurasian ancestry which did not originate in South East Asia.

Denisovan admixture is pretty much absent in South Indians correct?

Basal R clades have been found from Australian aborigines (the K2bs).

Since Afontova Gora and East Euro Hunter Gatherers have been modelled 10% East Eurasian in latest papers, I know believe the Denisovan signal comes from East Eurasian signal in Mal'ta and related folks likely introduced by proto R men from Island South East Asia.

In Reichs models Mal'ta boy was 20% East Asian. It is pretty obvious the East Asian ancestry in Mal'ta comes from proto R1 men spreading from South East Asian jungles.
According to Karafet the whole K2b clade has South East Asian origin. During mesolithic C and D haplos pushed ancestral P and all those other S and others to the islands. O is likely Neolithic immigrant to South East Asia whereas N only came after Iron Age.
