The two are very different, and the calculator results vary a lot. Might be low SNP call rate.
Basically a mixture of Sardinian-like and Caucasus (in different amounts).
They can be modeled as half Sardinian, half West Asian in some of these calculators. The Steppe input for the most part came later as did some of the more southern-shifted MENA.

I think the only conclusion that can be drawn is that the population was likely initially Sardinian-like (EEF) and then received a large influx from the Caucasus.
Everything else seems to be a later arrival.
Ancient samples always have low SNPs. But it still gives us an idea that ancient Sicilians, like Mycenaeans, were more Sardinian-shifted than the populations there today, but also already had significant Caucasian input.
Not always, there are many decent anicent samples. But the second one looks good. Basically Anatolian farmer + slight WHG and suprisingly enough already some Iran_N admix. Unsure if this one has a slight Steppe input.

Because their genome, or better the ratio of the various components, is still far from modern populations.
Not to mention that, as I know, these Sicilian Bell Beakers are women. So they could be just locals, initially Sardinian-like (EEF), mixed with new arrivals. There was likely a Bell Beaker phenomenon that seems not be not indo-europeanized, probably the oldest phases of the Bell Beaker, and then a Kurgan-like Bell Beaker wich is dominated by R1b males.
Then every calculator on Gedmatch obviously has different values even for the same ethnicities or sub-ethnic groups, and none of these is really 100% accurate, so we need to focus more on the big picture.
Do you know why this is?
Because ancient genome is obtained through the analysis of a few bone remains, sometimes even a tooth, which can often be contaminated, and in any case before being uploaded to Gedmatch raw data must be converted to a suitable format.

It's really the first era where it is parting away from other samples in Europe, it's the same in the mesolithic, same in the neolithic, then Bronze Age is completely different from other places, which keep showing the Bronze age input was not homogeneous at all in Europe.
Maybe we could see it another way as well, like they didn't really had Bronze Age people in the common sense, just different migrations coming at the same time, because it's like you remove from them all the mesolithic, EHG in particular and replaced it with SW Asian. 0 steppe in K16 is one of a kind for the time. Yet they had the same culture.

These were female samples, so it is possible they were just not yet mixed with Steppe incomers. However, Steppe input in Sicily is so low today that it is unlikely to me it was ever very high.

What doesnt make sense? Modern Southern Italians have both more near eastern and steppe ancestry than ancient Mycenaeans had. Samaritans are the best proxy for ancient Levantines and the algorithm always favors Armenia BA over some yamnaya source, indicating that steppe ancestry came through Anatolia.

They can basically be modeled as a mixture of Sardinian and West Asian of different types. While it is obvious when comparing to modern people that modern Sicilians are more Near Eastern than the Bell Beaker sample, it is also evident that at least a significant portion of said affinity is prehistoric and ancient, predating Phoenicians, Arabs, and Berbers. Modern Sicilians are more West Asian than the Bell Beaker sample even if not Levantine but on many calculators you posted they come up a mixture of Sardinian around 60% and the rest Levantine or Armenian.

Yes, but you must also take into account the low quality of the sample (maximum 6744 SNPs). I have posted the calculators from the most accurate to the least, but the only more or less reliable ones are HarappaWorld, Eurogenes EUtest V2 K15 and perhaps Eurogenes K13. I hope that in the future with a larger set of ancient DNA we'll be able to give precise conclusions.

I think it is consistent because if you think of them as half Sardinian and half south Italian, the half "south Italian" will have within it a certain amount of genes that could be modeled as West Asian.
If anything this person (the Sicilian Bell Beaker) is closest to Mycenaeans, at least when compared to other ancient and modern samples.
