This is observation I made during making of various K15 pca plots. Many people say Slovenes are closest to West Slavs but that's false, their closest people are NW Croats who make single homogenous cluster with them.
That make sense since they are immediate neighbours and linguisiticaly closest relatives.

From other groups, some Czechs are pretty close but still different for the most part. East Austrians make same cluster and so do western Hungarians I am pretty sure. Rest of Austrians and Hungarians are different.
And interestingly, some Upper Silesian Poles cluster in that same cluster, but I'm not sure are these outliers or not. I would need more Austro-Hungarian samples to confirm this presumption, as for Croats it's 100% true.

So this cluster is made of:

- Slovenes
- North West Croats
- East Austrians *
- West Hungarians *

I don't think anyone would deny NW Croats and Slovenes are the closest; that's kind of common sense right there.

Yeah, but it's interesting how Czechs and Slovaks are not that super close as many think - they are close, but not exactly the same like these two.

Yep. NW Croats and Slovenes are close in many aspects, so plotting together genetically doesn't surprise me.

Yes, this is very true. Through my Slovene side of my family there was so much bi-ethnic marriage with the Slovenes and NW Croats, I have 5 aunts and uncles in which 3 married Croats, My family was from the border so we were even more exposed, a lot of my cousins identify Croat, I just happened to be full Slovene on that side. Hell, my great-grandfather died in Čabar, just goes to show.
