Very interesting results! I checked his K15 and Dodecad K12b and he seems somehow half Sephardite and half Iberian converted to Islam.

This is important remark. I have feelign that those Spaniards who migrated to America were on average more "Italian" than modern ones. Many times when I make reports for Latinos there are in their Euro part quite Italian (for example Italian component in K36 is higher than Iberian, which is not the case for original Spaniards) and I'm not talking of course about Argentina / Urugyay/ Brazilia which are Italian admixed by recent migrations but such case is for Puertoricans many times.
Any theory for that?

We'd need a kit from exactly before to see how the dna got influenced by the settlers.

This has also been perceived by geneticists. They bring up the possibility of Conversos migrating en masse to Latin America.

We also detect South/East Mediterranean ancestry across Latin America, probably stemming mostly from the clandestine colonial migration of Christian converts of non-European origin (Conversos).

Hmmm...if he has in fact Moorish background, shouldn't his Red Sea be somewhat higher than only 0.15? It's weird to think it would only affect East Med (which is not THAT high between Moroccans for example - not to a point to make it close to West Med mixing with Iberians) and not Red Sea.

Exactly!
In the case of puerto-ricans/mexicans/centralamericans (but also here in the south) it seems that they have an important sephardic jewish background because in colonial times apparently many spaniards who traveled as conquistadores/adelantados had sephardic ancestry.
Probably many of them were cripto-jews or at least partly sephardic.
In many Gedmatch calculators they have some italian as the main population, and we must remember that sephardic cluster is just next to sicilian and others of Italy.

Now I see that Token said the same and better explained than me.
Even it's just a theory, not a fact I think, but it sounds an accurate hyphotesis.

I have carried out the comparison between your kit and mine. He was Andalusí and I am Andalusian.
What do you think? I honestly do not know how to analyze it.

The distance is bad I think the Northeast African really effects it but in reality this is probably the best of his mixed mode considering he was from Granada.

@filhov that portuguese (not the morisco in OP but the one you posted quoting me) is bronze age, since then a lot mixing happened with phoenicians and romans before the moors arrived.

Yes, this is what is most plausible explanation to me. In the same time Spain was "de-sephardized" because of that...

So modern Spaniards are more Iberian than average Spaniard from XVI century, and modern colonial Creoles are more Italian-like than not only modern Spanairds, but even those average XVI century Spaniards...

It all depends on the definition you give to the word 'Moor', in this case it probably means a resident of Iberia with a muslim background. I have more kits samples from Moorish graves in Spain"

It all depends on the definition you give to the word 'Moor', in this case it probably means a resident of Iberia with a muslim background. I have more kits samples from Moorish graves in Spain"

I read many times about crypto-Jews migrated to Latin America, but nothing about crypto-Muslims. Did crypto-Muslims (Moriscos) settled in Spanish and Portuguese colonies?

This is important remark. I have feelign that those Spaniards who migrated to America were on average more "Italian" than modern ones. Many times when I make reports for Latinos there are in their Euro part quite Italian (for example Italian component in K36 is higher than Iberian, which is not the case for original Spaniards) and I'm not talking of course about Argentina / Urugyay/ Brazilia which are Italian admixed by recent migrations but such case is for Puertoricans many times.
Any theory for that?

My theory is that South Iberians in that times they still had their ancient roman roots.

Andalusia was the Baetica, the most romanized region outside of Italian Peninsula so since centuries of roman domination, Baetica received a mass inmigration from there.

The Reconquista expelled this ancients Romanized Spaniards converted to Islam that in fact, were descendant of this first people in Iberian Peninsula.

It's fascinating to see high mixing between Iberians and North Africans, and no populations with such combination remain nowadays in Iberia.

Can we conclude that nearly all the Moriscos migrated back to North Africa or as crypto-conversos in Latin America?

I mean, we hardly find any North African admixture among Andalusians nowadays?

Not surprised after law enforcement got involved with Gedmatch many kits were deleted by universities and people with an interest in genetics.

I have carried out the comparison between your kit and mine. He was Andalusí and I am Andalusian.
What do you think? I honestly do not know how to analyze it.

My first chromosome is Atlantic, they say that the first chromosome is inherited entirely from the mother.

Well, the Moor was much more Mediterranean and Weste Asian and East Med than me who has a NE, Caucasus contribution and he has a practically S.ASIAN chromosome. :p

It is possible that Puerto Ricans and other South Americans are getting a fake Italian due to the residual West Asian of the Moriscos.

Eurogenes K36 offers a larger set of 36 components - but is subject to false positive classifications.

Here is my /Carollo Smith=Gallop/ comparison with Puerto Ricans and random Mexicans and Colombians. The similarity with Spaniards is more than evident.

I had saved the K36 Gallop versus Moorish with this Moorish from an extinct ethnic group.

Excited?

The color black signifies everything we do not share between the two. You can see the unbridgeable gap on chromosome 8

On chromosome 10 there is a large euro center entry.

Gray is Italian

Basque is frequently seen and Basque-arabian is repeated on three chromosomes, on one more significantly.

Looking at the other K15 and harrapa World it is quite possible that the Arabian of K36 is Mediterranean rather than Arabian proper.

East-Balcan is present on chromosome 1 and 22.

In 2 we only share Basque.

East Asian, China?

In the collage I made of Al Andalus with the AI, I was surprised to see some Chinese people, I would never have imagined it. :)
