Everyone here seems to be missing the obvious answer to this ridiculous dna result for someone who is supposed to be 100% romanian, its probably a Non-paternity event. My friendly recommendation for this person would be to test some cousins IF he wants to know the truth. These are the risks that you have to accept when you do a dna test.

there's been Circassians in Romania (https://ro.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cerchezii_din_Dobrogea) - they were few so they melted into the local population. some villages were named after them as well. anyway with the population movements in the past 150 years he could have a unique family story he's not aware of (a North Caucasian grandparent).

Was her Romanian surname her maiden name or her husband's surname? Was your grandmother/grandfather Jewish or Christian?

Considering that it's not that far back in time and that the Jewish community would keep records, you can try to contact whatever remains of the Jewish community in Galati to see if you can dig up some info.

While I think that your E Med is actually higher than average and a possible sign of mixing, your W med is low and it might just be a calculator effect. Regardless, your overall results are average Romanian.

The town his known ancestors come from is not far from the where the Gagauz live could his atypical results be related to Gagauz or another population related to them? He still seems even closer to the Caucasus/Persia/Turkey regions then the Gagauz.

Can you show me where it says that? If it's an obscure website, then that's not reliable. What I am thinking is that it's either Romanian Fenic for reasons that I've already explained or the Romanisation of the German Pfennig. The latter seems to have become Fenig in Poland, where it's a rare family. It barely exists in Israel, so Jewish roots for this surname are very unlikely. And in general guessing by family name is not the best way to find someone's ethnicity, as the carrier of ethnic admixture specific to the nationality of the surname might have lived quite a few generations ago.

Surnames does not mean anything, Jews were also with surnames of population with which they live. Lol, he has Jewish on all test he done, he needs to find Jewish matches to confirm it and it will be clear

0% Jewish IMO. He is simply assigned those because he is more Southern than the Balkan reference on MyHeritage. The same happens with me being more Northwestern than the Balkan reference and being assigned English.
FTDNA is too hectic to compare. I get 60% West Slavic there, so it's very inaccurate.
As I've said 12% is too small for someone with Romanian ancestry for it to be obvious from autosomal results, be they on MyHeritage, FTDNA, GEDmatch. 23andme should help, because they have a specific algorithm that's tailored to pick up Ashkenazi Jewish ancestry. It can also be obvious through the distance to Jewish matches on GEDmatch. So if you want to PM me your kit number, Chris, I can take a look at that.

Potentially he may be half Iranian! But he doesn't look so to be honest. YDNA would be interesting to see.

He's not typical in any way, he's clearly half and half as other calcs showed, one half being Azeri or something around that.

Reminds me of the adopted guy from R. Moldova, who thought all his life he was Russian but then it turned out that he is half Moldovan/Romanian and the other something from he Caucasus. I'm wondering if he managed to find the exact ethnic group in the end.
