View Full Version : Feiichy mtdna results
Hello! Very happy to be back. thanks to Loki :) I recently did mtdna full sequence test, to finally learn about my maternal origins. This is most complete mtdna test currently on the market.
Here are my matches (my marker is in white)

I also uploaded to yfull, and I am only member from southern part of Europe with this haplogroup (H10e*).

We were able to identify most probable early ancestor trough common match and his family tree, and it looks to be ethnic German woman born somewhere during 19th century, in Darmstadt, Hessen.
So now I know for sure, my maternal origins are indeed German. Which shows how mtdna and autosomal data do not correlate necessarily.

Doesn't the asterisk in H10e* mean that you don't match anyone from that list on YFull and anyone else downstream?

We are all H10e* and negative to all downstream subclades. I found my match trough our FTDNA project, there are much more members.

Nice to see it actually makes sense for someone. According to the analysis they did for Dick, he's supposed to share recent maternal ancestry with a person from Poland.

it's just most common in Poland, it goes back to the Slavic expansion in his case

Welcome back, girl! It's nice to see you again :)

I am obviously South-West Slavic. And I am very happy to finally confirm my maternal German origins. :) Before the test, I had my doubts, because mine/my mother's NW European autosomal admixture is very small.

I was not doubting that you had some German ancestry down the line, since how otherwise you would have got H10, but little bit surprised it's so recent as the 19th century, and it has to be Danube Swabian, since I also traced back several of my Danube Swabian lineage to Hessen. The Austrians have populated Historic Southern Hungary with many-many Germans, and since they were largely Catholic, they could have easily marry in with a fellow Croatian Catholic, the same way they often did with Hungarian Catholics.

Yes. :) I really don't know why I score so little German autosomally, maybe it's just recombination. Because my mother and uncle are both very stereotypical German looking (''brick faced'' Faelids mostly).
I should be around 16%, but I am way less than that. I guess DNA works that way. Sometimes you inherit it, sometimes not.
Cool that you have ancestry from Hessen too. I am sure you would be among my matches if you took same test.
Update: I got a new very close match 2 days ago, and he is a German man from Dortmund, Westhphalia. Which is amazing because BvB is my favorite team since childhood :)
