What did you use for Siberia and East Asia?

I based the source components for the calculator on where they are found on the PCA plot when I plotted all G25 modern populations. so I observed there is no Northern cluster in Europe, but a Western one, an Eastern one and a Southern one, to which add the Caucasian and Levantine one. only these components get to over 15% averages in national populations so ancestry from these five points alone seems a strong model for Europe to me

there's often some noise percentage or anyway such a small amount it's negligible. if I get something below 1% I just remove it from source to make the calc re-assign it to another source population. you'd be left with West Euro, South Euro and East Euro only, probably

Not what I meant. I am heavily admixed with French people yet my result doesn't really reflect it. Its similar to a pure Irish person, just with trace near eastern admixture. Barely much difference. And I do not pass amongst typical Irish genetically.

I know for fact my french is not from the NW. 0% Parisian/Picard/Oïl blood. It is in fact Southwest (Aquitani). No known ancestry from Parisians, not one drop. I blame Anglo-centric dna testing. 23andme eventually recognized this too. Ignore Paris it is completely alien to me. I am closest to Bretons because of my Anglo Scottish and Norse blood.

I wonder if a French region would be a better proxy for Western as using Irish is not a good proxy for Western but I'm being a bit pedantic. :) Being Irish myself I can say the Irish are more a proxy for Northwestern and a bit peripheral for Western. I already expected Norway was the most west euro/celtic country in Scandinavia, but I didnt expected this high 88%.

Its cool how according to what members say the North Euro component of Greece is really linked with the East and not with the sources of Western Euros.

The difference of Finland and Sweden is also interesting, Finland has confirmed Eastern Euro influences and its huge for their genome. Sweden, despite being less western than Norway, is still very different of Finland.

Germany and Sweden have comparable west and east euro components, both are the most western nations to have east euro components, their neighbors such as Norway, Netherlands, Belgium and France does not show more.

also, there is no Northern Euro component, it's only:
- Western (North Atlantic, if you wish, that peaks in the British Isles)
- Eastern (that peaks in the East Baltic region)
- and Southern, that peaks in Sardinians (who are very similar to Early Neolithic Farmers)

then, to this adds the Caucasus component and the Levantine component that only reaches >15% in Greece and Italy.

see how West the Eastern component goes and viceversa. also how north the Southern component goes (to 15% or more, I mean, to set a minimum score for it to be relevant).

the Balkans are the most mixed, each country has at least 3 main components, if not more (Greece scores high on 4 of the 5 components).

the absolute reference populations may be improved but in general this is the mix of the Europeans, a 5-way mix to which add some exotic components on Europe's edges (African, Siberian, South Asian).
