Father ancestry

Hey, I decided to make a continuation thread from my last one.

If anyone doesn’t know yet, my father is a Southerner and with regards to his ancestry I suspect he has a lot of descent from the Norman population who invaded England in 1066 and replaced the Anglo-Saxon aristocracy.

This is for two main reasons:

1. A lot of the last names on his of the tree are Norman French in origin.

2. The early British colonists in the South were either indentured servants or second and third sons of English noblemen. This is what Ancestry.com has to say about it,

“North Carolina’s earliest settlers were the second and third sons of aristocratic English families, former English indentured servants,”

Do his GEDmatch results suggest majority native British ancestry or does he show perhaps descending from a different population?

His results look fairly regular for a English/British American Southerner, if a bit Southern shifted. French/Southern admixture or shift is much, much more likely to come from mixing with non-British in America, than minor Norman blood from nearly a Millennium ago, that all English have.

My dad has deep roots in North Carolina, so I'll place some of his GEDMatch results below so you can compare the two. He is of somewhat-recent French descent, due to his 3rd great-grandfather being from southern France, so that impacts his results. The rest of his ancestors have been in the US for generations. He has Huguenot roots as well.
