Known ancestry is German (at least 50%), some Danish, some British/Irish. These results are pretty accurate, down to the regional level. For the most part. My English ancestry is actually not colonial but comes from a 19th century immigrant from Middlesbrough. The North Yorkshire and Cumbria percentages will probably be slightly higher, and there is probably some conflation going on with the East Anglian and southern English: Probably some common relatedness, plus again, this man is not 100% British (no more than 25%, per my reckoning)

The East Germanic selection is spot on, and indeed, my deep paternal side is German from Mecklenburg. The Baltics percentage was the only "unexpected" component. There is some possibility there is perhaps some East Prussian or Baltic German in there? Hmm...

Thoughts, amigos?

Not shown in the link, but it's kind of an odd choice that on the map portion, the approx. southern half of Danish Jutland plus all the islands are categorized under "Northwest Germanic", but the northern half of Jutland gets included into "Scandinavia" alongside Sweden and Norway. I wasn't aware of northern Jutland really being any noticeably different genetically from the south.

Depends on what their definition of Baltic is. Could be eastern German/Prussian.

Per the map, their Baltic really is just the Baltic states. Northeast Germanic seems to basically be , well, eastern Germany.

Maybe it’s a little Old Prussian...

I have looked at very few LivingDna results in general. Just thought that Baltic score was curious, seeing how everything else was more or less accurate for him.

And, FWIW, 23andme assigned him 3.5% East Euro (unspecified- at one point he had podlaskie specified, but dropped now).

Perhaps a more specialized thread is in order. I shall be summoning all my resident experts on Baltic Germans and East Prussians.
