Maybe that's Szekely influence?
The Szekely influence should have shown on other components too, which doesn't appear to be the case. Some people from Romania and Moldova just have a decent chunk of East Asian/Siberian heritage. We can speculate if that's from Tatars, Szeklers, Huns, Cumans, Pechenegs, Bulgars and so on. Check the Wallachian thread. There are people with respectable East Asian/Siberian too in Calarasi, on the border with Bulgaria.
Interesting that those "pure" Transylvanian Germans appear almost indistinguishable from Romanians. I think, like Szekelers, the main difference in 95% of cases is today one of language: 5% of Saxons look German and 5% of Szekelers look Magyar, 10% look mixed and 85% look standard Romanian.
Considering that there are samples from even the same village in some cases that look like average Wallachian genetically compared to their co-villagers, I think it's pretty clear that a lot of assimilation happened on both sides. Romanians assimilated Szeklers/Hungarians plus Saxons, and viceversa.
In places like Arad, I have 7 samples with 4 grandparents from there that say that they are all Romanians, but in all but 1 case they score more North Atlantic than Baltic. If it were just a couple I'd think that maybe the components are not distributed in a balanced manner. But when it's so often, I think that indicates that minorities have been assimilated there a long time ago into the Romanian ethnic identity.

In general, in Transylvania there are significantly more cases of people scoring more NA than Baltic compared to the rest of the country, so that probably points to the assimilation of Szeklers/Hungarians and Saxons.
Transylvanian Saxons are the most south shifted Germans in Europe? Thoughts?
We don't have a sufficient number of Saxons to be able to conclude that. I personally have seen only 2.
