There is no data in the spreadsheet - only usernames :(

The spreadsheet lists the cluster assignments only, while the data (including cluster assignments) is presented on the two images. There's also a PCA, and I'll upload the coordinates eventually so those interested can run them in Gnuplot.
Obviously, I have a lot more data, including segment matches between individuals, but it's several gigabytes in size, so it has to processed and simplified in some way.
Day Tripper has some ideas how to deal with it, and he's looking at it now. Hopefully we'll be able to produce intra-North Euro ancestry paintings. At the very least, that could be a very interesting experiment.
Is Day Tripper on this forum? Maybe he can comment directly?
It would be nice to organise this information into an excel table. Pasting parts of an image to see individual results seems a little crude.
The results sometimes seem to find admixed individuals in amusing clusters. For instance, RU19 with his known Ashkenazi admixture is in the West Ukrainian cluster. RU23, I suppose, ended up outside the analysis (being seemingly the equivalent of a Chuvash).
Another interesting thing for myself is that one of my two closest violet matches (RU38 and GSM536625, a Hungarian) is from a fairly distant cluster (POP11, East German).

^^^ looks good for myself. Being Scottish/English/Shetlander in ancestry. The Cornish are stereotypically put as inbred also. So that kind of makes it look more true. lol
Nice one! :thumb001:
Curiously, the last plot on that page is very like what i get on the 'zoomed in' 23 and Me plot for Northern Europe.
http://img861.imageshack.us/img861/3706/pca2.png
In both of them, I (UK20), am sat 'on the top', a bit on my own. Anyone have any idea why I'm on the periphery like this? Nothing significant to it, and just chance?
Who/what is Carl Anderson? I (UK39) seem to cluster near him on both plots.
Me likes this one. :D Mostly because I'm situated in between Kent folks and Belgians. :p
Troggy, you Celtic damsel...
CA is just some scientist dude who uploaded his genome online. More info here...
This is what happens when you upload your SNPs online
By the way, the info you're seeing is just scratching at the surface of the data that came out of this analysis. So there should be more stuff to come.
Dunno, but you didn't make it into the Western British (plus Irish) cluster, while Trog did.
Eurogenes' North Euro clusters - phase 2, final results
To quote myself...
Quote:
pop14 - Irish + West British: Most Irish individuals fall in this cluster, as well as British samples from Western Scotland and Wales. It's tempting to correlate this cluster with Celtic genetic ancestry in the Isles.
Ah well, I'm only 3/8 Irish, so little wonder I'm with the general NW Euro crowd. :)
Eeeee, I'd think twice about 'Celtic genetic ancestry' as a term, though! If Celtic speech appeared by the Alps, we're looking at something rather pre-Celtic from the Isles in this pop14 cluster. In terms of greater genetic imprint from the 'original Celts', I'd rather be looking at the French, indeed.
About ending up on the edge of clusters, as opposed to the centres, is there any meaning to this at all, or is it just the way the different 'pulls' end up leaving somebody more or less by chance? Grrr, I struggle to express myself...
Anyroad, keep up the good work!
Yeah, there seems to be purpose to the precise placement of individuals in the tree. It appears that people who are very similar are close to each other. Also different clusters that are related in some way tend to be placed next to each other, even if they're on different branches on the tree.
But the manual doesn't explain the details of how that works. My suggestion would be to see who you're next to on those trees, and swap notes with them about their ancestry. Of course, there are also those two sheets showing segment counts and lengths, and these can be used to work out very precise affinities to individuals and populations. One thing to keep in mind is that greater lengths usually = more recent ties.
Having some trouble, not sure what I'm doing wrong that is causing the output files to be seemingly unfindable on my computer. Thinking of reinstalling everything and trying again once I get a lull in the university schedule. Figure afore I start askin' folks to participate, might as well figure out the kinks.
EDIT:
I switched everything to the d: drive and am currently giving it a go, seems to be working right now, will see once everything is completed if output files can be found. That is all if my laptop doesn't overheat, the program is at about 70 k of 550,725.
Who else from in here is in cluster14? I think it's a strong indication of Celtic/pre-Celtic ancestry and certainly a very low/minimal input from Germanics.
'pop15 - South/West Scandinavian' here!:)
Just for clarification. I am UK40, so should I take it the form reads pop-X and then the list of people within that population? If this is the case then I am pop17 (Northwest European).
@Polako: Which yellow is which for pop17 and pop11?

Yes, but it pays to check your position on the tree as well, to see who you're closest to (refer to the top of the raw coancestry matrix image).
Or you can study in more detail the chunk count and length sheets I uploaded (bottom of my post).
Don't worry about that PCA. The lower diversity of the Northeast Euros skews the results for most of the others. That plot is basically only useful for those from east of Holland/Belgium. Find yourself on these plots for more precise placement amongst the other Brits.Quote:

ChromoPainter PCAs of Western Europe
Hehe...UK40 is next to US83 on the tree.
Is it possible that I am the most western European individual in this forum? Out of the northerners, of course. So I can lay claim to being more ancient British, right? Less Germanic, more Picitish. ;)

The only one over Hadrians wall. To keep the Romans safe!
I'm hoping Doggerland is nice and dry. If not, we'll need a lot of boats.
Osweo, you Scotch bastard!
