My wording was a bit wrong there, ofc most people in Iraq including in the Kurdish ruled part speak Arabic and it's the more prestigious language, especially amongst minorities but when the Kurds from the villages around Erbil started moving into the city in the post War era they quickly became the majority and the muslims who already had ties with them who lived there got assimilated into their culture and language. But I'm sure most Turkmen and Arabs who are left in Erbil also speak Arabic.Quote:

There aren't any Arabs from Erbil city today. There are only some in the countryside of Makhmour in S. Erbil governorate. There were some in the past, but I don't know what happened to them. Erbil pre-1950 was also majority Kurdish.Quote:

What are your sources for this? The earliest data on the population of Erbil is from British sources, and these all show a Kurdish majority. Ottoman sources mention the vilayet of Mosul as a whole, again with a Kurdish majority.Quote:

It's obvious the elevated Red Sea and the minor SSA in these townspeople comes from mixing with Arabs of the area. Which didn't happen in the villages.
