That would be logical if he was close to Slovaks but I'm not sure about East Germans though. There is no SW Ukrainian reference on G25.

the distance at the bottom of the post says Slovaks, then Poles, then Ukrainians, better than the 2-pop mix. on the Vahaduo Northern Euro PCA he is close to westernmost Ukrainians but among Poles and a Slovak. I think it's pretty realistic since the West Moldovans I know the G25 coords for are close to that G25 Moldavian average so it should be a good proxy for my mom.

No, of course they aren't Balkan Slavs. Maybe some Croats and Bosniaks come close to them but as a whole they're closer to Slovaks, Malopolska and SW Ukraine (Ivano-Frankovsk, Chernovtsy, Uzhgorod etc.)

this is important to know especially in Romania where we are no enclave but we come in direct continuation of the Ukrainian population in Ukraine, there's no other ethnic group living in the lands between our region and the Ukrainian border - we are just the southwestern edge of the Ukrainian continuous. Yeah, that's certainly an interesting community and I commend your great interest in your heritage. I think you love both Rusyn and Romanian heritage.

sure, but I am not nationalistic with either. just a bit worried for the future of the Ukrainian language within the community - it's spoken as first language in the villages, but most of those who leave for the Romanian cities marry Romanians and won't speak it to their kids. at old style Christmas when families get together, often the cousins from the cities don't speak the language so people have to switch from Ukrainian to Romanian all the time.

Just a heads up to not put too much trust in the simulated profile of a parent.
Here's a direct example from me. I received my mom's results before my dad's, so I attempted to deduce his profile by assuming that I'm a perfect average of them.
DNA inheritance is more chaotic than that, so the simulated model for a parent is bound to be somewhat off.

Interesting that I get Muntenia region for Romania, that would make sense added to the fact that I'm Bulgarian, I guess xD And I also get closest match Bulgarian Ruse, which literally bordering Muntenia, Romania. It's all coming together LOL

Also, interesting that the first is Greek...And Abkhasian is in there too. Also wtf is Turk Macedonia?

And weirdly enough, I'm supposedly from Trasylvania but it appears much lower than expected LOL

If you can update it!
For example for Muntenia i used only 2 kits (i don't remember which were, but they weren't yours)
And Update Transylvania if you can.. I use only Horea (Jud. Alba) samples.
You could spread in other "Genetic clusters" if you find it. (Ex. South_Transylvania/North_Transylvania)

I agree with this approach, within one nation there should be differentiations based on regions (8-10 at max) rather than counties or cities (with the exception of the capital, which is often the meeting point of all regions), otherwise we get way too many results from the same nation.

Nothing against Pomaks, but there are way more Pomak regions in K13 than German.

Exactly. Also the Balkan Turks. I mean they are like 10% of Bulgaria's population and in Greece and Romania their share is even smaller.

Many of those Bulgarian, Pomak, Balkan-Turk averages are based solely on one or two samples.

I believe 5 samples should be absolute minimum to create any separate cluster, and even that is kinda on the borderline. Now I do wonder if anyone still even knows on how many samples are the various groupings even created on? Rather have one or two well representative national categories than 7-8 based on 2-3 samples each.

In my opinion 3 samples should be absolute minimum for one average, around 10 is decent. 1 is unacceptable, that person can be atypical for the region and that's not average.

Do you keep any database about how many samples are the averages based upon? Are there any which are based on less than 3? If yes, would you merge those which don't fit this minimum?
