I would find it quite palatable to believe there is nothing after this life. Most of the religions in the world promise the possibility, even the likelihood, of great torment after death. That's hardly a comforting thought. So for those who say religion is a crutch, I turn it around on them. I think atheism/nihilism is at least as much of a crutch.
