Very true, Kurds played part in the ethnogenesis of Iranian and Karabakh Azbaijanis. Although most people when they point out similarity usually think that this apply to the whole Azerbaijan, forgetting that Western and Northern Azeris are very different.
Of course Baku is a whole different animal.

You have no idea )) I wish there was a comprehensive testing of Baku's population. It is a literal melting pot.
That is why I mentioned Russians above. Azerbaijan had the biggest Russian population in the Caucasus and Azerbaijanis extensively intermarried with Russians, especially in Baku and Sumgayit.
Large scale testing will doubtless show this. Azeris just recently warming up to DNA tests, but still way behind many other nations.

North Azeris form sort of a continuum with Dagestani people, and are very close to Lezgin, Avars, etc.
Dagestani Azeris (from Russia) are even more northern shifted. I have seen one with more than 20% NE for example.

Western Azeris tend to have the highest East Asian admixture and tend to be similar to Turks from Turkey. I have seen a result of Azerbaijani from Gadabay (in western (republic) Azerbaijan) who actually was closest to Yoruk. I think it was poseted by Kyp. Maybe he can dug it up ))
I have personal friend from Gadabay who has epithantic fold ))) This region (Gadabay) also tend to produce quite a lot of blond, blue eyed people for some reason. Go figure ))

Excuse me, are you from the "Russian sector" yourself? A big minority of people in Baku still go to Russian-medium schools and use Russian on a daily basis.

Zazas are a subset of Kurds of Turkey. Different tribes is what differentiates Kurds. Being that Kurds span a large area in West Asia there's regional variation.

No, but I knew Russian due to the fact that the language was spoken around me growing up, and I did my bachelors degree in Saint Petersburg. So I am fluent in Russian without having been in "Russian sector" ))
