he could be from Kakanj, central Bosnia, and his results would fit that area, but it's not 100% sure. I just found a man with his name from there, but there are other people carrying same name so not confirmed.

Maybe somebody like Vbn could update Bosniak average with new samples? Got a lot recently. I'd do it myself but have no older samples stored. No need for regional division imo, just update general average if possible is enough. they seem to vary regionally anyway

They are artificially closer to Moldovans than to countries between them due to admixture match, but in reality countries bordering Bosnia are more "Bosnian-like".

These are outdated oracles (Moldovan average included east slavs and one part gypsy, Croatian average is based on just one sample with atypical high Baltic etc). People should use updated Vahaduo K13.
however Moldovans do have similar genetic breakdown as south Slavs indeed (slavic and southern)

Indigenous Bosniaks are very close to southern and eastern Croats. Sarajevo seems to be the most Serb like, evident from the above sample but also some of the old academic samples. Perhaps this is due to receiving Muslim migrants from Serbia/Montenegro after independence and more recent sandzak migrants.

Southern and eastern Croatians are not close to each other. Southern Croatians are quite closet to Bosnian Serbs than to eastern Croatians.

Large part of "Bosniaks" are not native in Bosnia, but descendants of Muslim refugees from surrounding regions from late 17th to 19th century. In 19th century tons of Muslims from Serbia moved to Bosnia and mostly settled in eastern and northeastern Bosnia. That people had nothing to do with Sandžakians (islamized Montenegrin-Albanian hybrids). They were Muslim Serbs from western and central Serbia.

Yeah I’m aware there was local Serbs who were islamised and not Sandzakians, that’s why I mentioned the two separately. Indigenous Bosniaks from rural regions seem to range from southern Croat like to eastern Croat like is my observation, not that southern/eastern Croats are the same. it’s Sarajevo Bosniaks who seem to be more similar to Bosnian Serbs, probably because many of them are like Bosniensis and have roots outside Bosnia. For indigenous rural Bosniaks it isn’t uncommon for them to hit Baltic in the mid to high 30s, something which isn’t common in any serb group.

We lack Herzegovina Bosniak samples unfortunately.

Bosnia and Herzegovina (regions) don't seem really different though, at least by judging Croat results. Both have high Slavic and Balkan/southern shifted results. So maybe for Bosniaks it will be the same.
It's only east Herzegovina Serbs who seem to differ, likely due to strong Montenegrin influence. I'd be curios to see muslim samples from west and east Herzegovina and do they differ or not.

Are you trolling? East Croat average is not representative and it's made on small sample size, Slavonians aren't that Baltic on average.
And Bosniaks from Bosnia are indeed genetically closer to Croats than Serbs, Serbs rarely have such high Baltic results.

Overall Bosniaks may be more Baltic than either group (even though their average needs update as well, it is also too much Baltic imo)

These "averages" are made of 5-10 users who don't even cluster with each other.

Do not rely on results of a handful of users on amateur forums when talking about regional averages, rely on peer-reviewed genetic studies.

Wrong. Peer reviewed samples are often highly unrepresentative, including foreigners and mixed people from large cities, and not checked for grandparents ancestry at all.
What we have on Vahaduo is vastly superior and more representative.

Lot more than 5-10. Serbs and Croats are well sampled, eastern Croatia was exception and undersampled.
Anyway, sample size isn't overly important, it's much more important how deeply rooted samples are because on small areas everyone will be genetically similar unless some kind of societal separation (eg Gypsies, Jews)

In reality Bosniaks are probably more southern shifted than what that several or several dozens samples show, because in Bosnia live tons of Sandžakians for decades who are often in marriages with natives. Sandžakians are in everything superior towards the Bosnian Muslims including birth rate, and they are for sure future of Bosniak nation.
