Germany is simply awesome with unemployment rate of like 3%

I don't want to have inner German. Despise them. Don't look German and I wouldn't fit there. I feel nothing listening to that. American culture is absolutely nothing like Germany's.
I do believe my great grandfather belonged to a German-American organization. Heaven knows why.

German is the most common ancestry in America. One could argue that any movie about Christian White Americans, particularly those taking place in the German Belt, deals with German Americans to some extent. German surnames aren't common in movies because they aren't common in real life in their un-anglicized form (Müller-Miller, Braun-Brown, Fischer-Fisher...): http://names.mongabay.com/data/white.html

The Great Gatsby and Boardwalk Empire have German-American protagonists.
There aren't that many movies centered around immigration. Nuovomondo (2006) comes to mind, which is a good movie by the way, and Titanic.
    Spoiler!

as for me, I'm definitely more outgoing and funny than is associated with Germans, which I almost undoubtedly get from my Irish side (every other side of the family is quite dull). I will say that Germanics are creative, though. Celts may be funny and outgoing but I think Germanics might be more artistic and creative (the Irish are certainly artistic but in a different way - the 'out there' kind of art I like mostly comes from Germanics, for some reason, complete opposite of their personalities). So I like the Germanic side for this, as I think I am creative in a Germanic sense, but outgoing and humorous in an Irish sense. A good combination me thinks. Since you were saying how you didn't identify with that side I felt tempted to say which parts of my ancestors I identify with..

The one for "English" is severely underreported. We were the first Americans and set the culture obviously. The problem is a lot of English Americans these days are rednecks living in Kentucky and only refer to themselves as 'murican. If it weren't for their retardation, I'd say we'd be the #1 ethnic group.

Notice how the percentage more than halved from 1980 to 1990!

Many were changed, yes. But German surnames are usually more varied, so they don't top the most common lists. Many that start with "H" come to mind.

Muller, Schmidtt, Hoffman, and Fuches are pretty common, actually. In several different spellings

I agree, I've noticed that they often cast actual Germans with an accent in villainous roles rather than German-Americans in most of the Hollywood action/spy flicks I've seen. German accent is bad ass.

During WW1 many German-Americans modified anglicized their surnames. Trump's father or grandfather did so at some point. The original surname was something Dompf or something like that.

At some point General Pershing's family modified their surname from Pfersching to Pershing.

The most famous instance - although not American but interesting never the less - is the British Royal family changing their surname from House of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha to Windsor during WW1.
