Default How does Low Saxon language sounds to you?

It's a dialect of the Low Saxon language spoken in the eastern parts of the Netherlands called Nederlaands Leegsaksies or Dutch Low Saxon. The speakers of this dialect that don't live in Holland are mostly concentrated in the Hispanic-American countries.

I had no idea there were Low Saxon speakers in Mexico.

I have the Fairy Tales of the Brothers' Grimm in German and their respective German dialects. Whenever I would read one written in a dialect, it would scare me because I'd think I'd forgotten my German, but then when I read one in standard German, I would heave a sigh of relief.

The only things I understood were: Di (you acc.) mijn (poss. pronoun) desertmaand, desertzonn, desertstern, Gedanken laangzaam rund jy kop (thoughts slowly around your head), mijn God, Wat sagt jy (di) (What do you say...)

I guess it's basically what I would expect Plaatduutsch to sound like, I just thought I'd understand more.

Makes sense, Low Saxon is one of the primary ancestors of the English language.

Sorry for my late answer to this, yes it definitely sounds interesting specially because it sounds really close to English IMO with a kinda slight Germanic tone and words obviously.

BTW we can be biased since the style of the song and voice are like country / folk and can remind of Americans more

Found out this video, very interesting to see such similarities. No wonder English are called "Anglo-Saxons"...

I originally thought that the 'softness' that we see in the English pronunciation when compared to other West Germanic languages like Dutch or High German came from some Norse language that influenced significantly the language, maybe directly from the Jutes that probably spoke a North Germanic language, from Old East Norse brought with the Danes or possibly even from the Normans that brought a lot of words with them.
But the role played by these three languages doesn't even come close to the importance of the Low Saxon in the English formation. We don't really know how the language of the Anglii sounded like, but for now i believe that the English phonology is heavily derived from Low Saxon.

One feature is how they form participles without the prefix 'ge-' just like in English, the other Germanic language with a huge Saxon base.

Apparently Old English as well as Old Saxon used 'ge-' as a prefix in past participles.
