Which family names sound Jewish?

I have a Mayers in my family tree, my dad’s great great grandad. He was born in a village in Germany and when I search his dad’s name from his marriage certificate it shows someone with that name as a prominent Jewish man there. It was a small place so I’d think it unlikely there were two. However, if my Mayers was Jewish my dad would be about 6.25% Jewish and he’s never actually scored any Jewish on any tests, so I don’t know.

Was the spelling Meier? The spelling makes a difference too. One or two vowels is all it takes for someone to be wearing a Yamaka.

Meier and Kulp are worth looking into. Spelling is absolutely irrelevant.

My surname is "Oak". Abraham inhabited the Oak Woods of Mamre. All portuguese surnames are also beared by sephardics, then any portuguese (and spanish) surname is also a potential jew surname.

Kulp does seem suspect. One of the branches of my families were early settlers in the Western part of Virginia, but they first arrived in PA. The town they lived in was full of Ashkenazi Jews. This was back in the 1700s. And Kulp was one of the people from that town.
