Default Kievan Rus ancestry is impossible to see

Because Swedes and Russians (especially NW) already look identical and it is hard to tell them apart.

Kievan Rus is a Ukrainian wet fantasy. It was just Russia. The first capital of Russia is Ladoga, the second is Novgorod, the third is Kiev, the fourth is Vladimir, the fifth is Moscow. Northern Russians are really a bit like Swedes, more precisely, the Swedes are like northern Russians. The secret is simple. The Slavs assimilated the Finno-Ugric tribes - Izhorsk, Komi, Vod, Vepps, Karelian. These Finno-Ugric peoples are descended from the ancient Baltic tribes. At some point, these Russian tribes went to the Scandinavian Peninsula, mingled there with the Germans and became the ancestors of the Swedes. In Russia, these tribes first became Finns, and then assimilated by the Slavs.

    I don't know about that......

I think 5-10% of Russians have Varangian Rus blood..... I don't think there is any other connection between Sweden and Russia besides commonly belonging to the North-Eurasian-Caucasid people.

I have never heard of population exchanges between Russia and Sweden that you mention, can you provide some links/sources/studies? Sounds interesting.

At the moment it sounds like there was a ruling class from Sweden who forced themselves on the Slavic masses, but it's hard to say if they contributed genetically to today's Russians or were such a small # that 1% ruled the 99%.

There was no Scandinavian ruling class in Russia. The ruling class, starting with the grandchildren of Rurik, began to call himself Slavic names. The integration of Scandinavians into Eastern Europe was gradual and the Scandinavians themselves adapted to local traditions. That is, the Scandinavian elite began to rule the Slavs, only when this elite itself became Slavs in self-consciousness. Moreover, the Scandinavian version of the origin of Russia is not the only one. This is one of the versions ... I don’t remember where I read about the population exchange account. I remember that part of the population of Sweden was settled from the territory of Russia. For example, the haplogroup N1c R1a and the Baltic component came to Sweden from Russia.

Ancient Scandinavians were very Russian-like genetically:

Varangians were just a tiny elite/warrior class and were quickly fully slavicized. Rus was as much as swedish as Norman England was "Norwegian".

Also (NW) Russians and Swedes look quite different and often it is easy to tell them apart.
