It's getting worse than that. Many examples on social medias of people who think they rescued their "pets" (no you didn't, you found it or bought it, you didn't rescue shit), of any kind, even a lizard, a spider or a beaver. They think they can domesticate them and act like it's a person, talking to them seriously, or explaining that they brought a brother/sister to their child/other pets. I love dogs for example but this is a puzzling behavior and i think it has even have to do with certain ideologies uncounsciously leaking, into the animal world from people who got so brainwashed they have no more limits applying it everywhere.
