Even if I don't like a language (I think that Russian sounds unattractive and hard on the ears), I still start to understand it if I hear it a lot, because I have a brain. I'd have to shut down my brain for this automatic process to stop.

I seriously get an impression that your GF is either mentally impaired or on the border of being mentally impaired if she couldn't learn the language of the country she was born in. Like really, doesn't she have any brain activity? Most people learn the language automatically in like 6 months (like that German exchange student I talked about). But she studied it in school and still couldn't get it, there's no way that she's "quadralingual". Like I said, it appears that she's mentally impaired.

All those Estonians that I have met here have at least a college degree. Not so for the Russians.

My faculty for mathematics and physics is litteraly full with Russian phd's and profs, Really you cant imagine.

It's common for Russians to cheat on these language tests, even during citizenship exams. If she passed the C1 test, she should have no problem understanding and speaking Estonian.

I still think that she's mentally impaired and she can speak 2 languages at best (native + English).

Russians have no relation to Estonia whatsoever, thus it's logical that the emigration rate among Russian immigrants of Estonia is higher than the one of Estonians. Many Russians want Estonian citizenship because it allows them to go to any country in the EU.

Sometimes I get an impression that Estonian citizenship is handed out too easily. For instance, your below 70 points IQ girlfriend can't speak the language of the country she was born in.

I have never learned Russian (in school, I didn't see any need to learn it. As I don't use it at all) or Finnish, but both languages have stuck on me somehow and I can understand both to some extent, just by hearing both languages quite often. Every person with at least some intelligence should have the same effect.

I met a German exchange student 2 weeks after he had came to Estonia, in september. He could only say a few words in Estonian. Then I met him again 6 months later and he spoke Estonian without no accent at all. You couldn't understand that he is a foreigner.

I would have to work really hard to shut down my brain, while living abroad, to not learn the local language. Russians don't seem to have a problem with it... must be the lack of brain activity.
