Americans have always very different ways of categorizing things.

Portugal is not southern european, Haiti is not latin american, Spanish people are not white, latinos are a race. The thing about spanish people is at least hard to argue because 'whiteness' as a concept involves too many subjective standards, when not cultural and political. But it is funny.

If you look at almost any thread discussing the fact that Northern Europe is culturally "Whiter" than the South, you will see tons of Spanish, Italians and Greeks arriving like flies around good meat and start trolling or insulting. The irony is that there are some people in Italy and Spain who also defend the idea that "Northern is Whiter".
