Inequality, immigration, obesity. People hold strong views about these thorny public challenges. It’s a shame, then, that most don’t know even basic facts about them.
Polling firm Ipsos MORI published its latest “Perils of Perception” report today (Dec. 2), and it makes for uncomfortable reading. The company surveyed people about the demographics of their countries. “Across all 33 countries in the study, each population gets a lot wrong,” said Bobby Duffy, managing director of the Ipsos MORI Social Research Institute. “We over-estimate what we worry about.”

Those polled think that one in four people around them is an immigrant, for example, when the real figure is fewer than one in 10. Argentinians are way, way off—they reckon that 30% of people in the country are immigrants, when in reality the share is just 5%.
When it comes to inequality, people in the survey globally think the richest 1% own nearly half of all wealth in their country, when the actual figure is closer to a third. This seems a particular worry among Brits, who were off by the most—reckoning that plutocrats’ share is more than twice the actual average (59% versus 23%).
Aging is another issue that people tend to overestimate. Across the survey, people thought the average age in their country is 50 years old, versus the actual of 37. Brazilians were particularly bad at judging this, saying that the average age of people in their country is 56 when it is actually 31.
By contrast, obesity is an issue that the people in Ipsos’s survey appear to underestimate. The average guess for the share of overweight or obese people is 40%, versus an actual figure of 54%. Saudis, for example, think that just over a quarter of their country is overweight, when in reality the figure is around 70%.
Adding this all up, the pollster came up with a ranking it rather coarsely dubs the “Index of Ignorance.” This year’s “winner” is Mexico, taking that dubious honor from last year’s title holder, Italy.

The Ipsos “Index of Ignorance” 2015
This is the Ipsos “Index of Ignorance” 2016. Ipsos index 2016 is a 40-country study. In the previous years the number of countries surveyed in the research was smaller (14 in 2014, 33 in the 2015) As you can see the list has changed a lot.

The list, from most to least ignorant, is as follows:

    1 India
    2 China
    3 Taiwan
    4 South Africa
    5 US
    6 Brazil
    7 Thailand
    8 Singapore
    9 Turkey
    10 Indonesia
    11 Mexico
    12 Canada
    13 Montenegro
    14 Russia
    15 Serbia
    16 Philippines
    17 Hong Kong
    18 Israel
    19 Denmark
    20 Argentina
    21 France
    22 Vietnam
    23 Peru
    24 Spain
    25 Chile
    26 Hungary
    27 Japan
    28 Belgium
    29 Poland
    30 Colombia
    31 Sweden
    32 Norway

Lynn is the current president of the notoriously racist organization Pioneer Fund. Prior to becoming president in 2012, he received hundreds of thousands of dollars in Pioneer Fund grants.

In IQ and the Wealth of Nations (2002), Richard Lynn argued that differences in nations' per capita gross domestic product (GDP) are partially caused by IQ differences, meaning that certain nations are wealthier in part, because their citizens are more intelligent.

He never tested anyone's IQ. He just chose results that corroborate with his statements about the connection between GDP and intelligence, without any regards to the results of IQ tests that prove otherwise. There were numerous results of IQ tests in every country. With scandalous disregard for scientific objectivity one can prove that every nation is the most intelligent and most stupidest depending what you want to "prove".

Of course, serious scientific circles discarded his "work" as pure example of pseudoscience combined with shocking disregard for scientific objectivity.

    End of story.

he could be a racist , an asshole and what u like and probably he is
( i don' t belive IQ test can be really affidable , but it can be indicative )

he is not the only one who made a iq ranking ...exist many different ranking from different organization and they are similar ...it is not that the point ...

exist many fonts about ...it's not all trash how you would like ...there are controversials ...I don' tbelive IQ calculation can be very affidable about Intelligence ...but anyway , even can exist some controversial factors , the IQ ranking made by different fonts put the same country at the top, the same country at the centre and the same country always at the end . The IQ test is not precise but it is indicative , yes it is !
from being stupid you could result very stupid , from being intelligent you could result very intelligent
but if you are very intelligent u cannot result an idiot . Again there are problem about calcolation of different form of Intelligence
Again we see intelligence can be affected by many factors ...it can grow too or go down ...reserch continue
its not all trash as u think ....depend ..depend ..end of story

Italy in the Ipsos “Index of Ignorance” 2016 is 33rd of 40, one of the least "ignorant" country in the world.

The Peru lol. Why should I? Unlike you and your kind I'm not the type of person who lives in lala land and comes up here to post false crap or escapist stuff about my country. Peru is one of the most ignorant countries in the world and I don't have any problem saying it cause truth must be always served. Will you ever be man enough to accept Turkey is ignorant as fuck? (or that they massacred tons of people, they violate minorities rights, etc). I don't think so.

And this list about the most ignorant country has been made by Ipsos Mori, the second largest market research organisation in the United Kingdom, formed by a merger of Ipsos UK and MORI, two of Britain's leading survey companies.

Marketing research and computer-assisted telephone interviewing, that's what it's all about.

I don't trust Richard Lynn, who is clearly a racist, and neither marketing research.
