You don't have to be a genius in geography to understand that Thrace is far away from Syria

Here i made a mistake he was born in Stageira in the Chalkidiki peninsular which is part of the Northern Greek mainland.

It was Demokritos who was from Abdera.

Needless to say that both of them had nothing to do with Syria or Phoenicia
