Yeah not really, they are about as faggy as soccer players.
What puts hockey apart here is that you can win games through sheer intimidation and physical play.

Physical intimidation only works on mediocre skilled teams. Highly skilled teams punish other teams that play overly physical by punishing them on the power play.

Notice how the Philadelphia Flyers during the late 70s to early 90s would be successful but fail to win the cup. Their success in '74 and '75 Stanley Cup playoffs wasn't a given. They almost lost to a goon free NY Rangers in 7 games.
