To be honest I prefer to be surrounded by lukewarm catholics, with their harmless superstitions like lighting candles to saints, rather than be surrounded by wahabi like pentecostals that want to ban the teaching of evolution in public schols or send gay people to psiquiatric hospitals.

The great threat to Catholicism in Latin America isn't atheism but Evangelical Protestantism. It's already known that Nixon and Kissinger are behind the engines of the Protestant expansion in Latin America. They want to make the region more docile to US domination and of course countries with a predominant Ibero-Catholic culture were an obstacle.

All the US does in LA is trying to reverse the Iberian legacy. That's why I think Ibero-Americans are the natural enemies of Anglo-Americans. Modern Anglos are an anti-Iberian race per definition.
