Their surname is Starcevic which is connected to Bunjevacs.

Some of the West Hercegovina Croat kits posted here before (vbnetkhio plotted them on the PCA) plotted near the Serb average.

He is obviously Bunjevac by origin, and they can plot like Serbs but Croats from western Herzegovina on average don't.
I just find it strange to think they wouldn't mix with native Croats/Slovenians/Germans of Gorski kotar since their town was founded in 17th century.

Who knows, maybe they only inter-married with other Bunjevac settler families. Please find out his YDNA!

Maybe they mixed with some other Hercegovina-origin Croats rather than only Bunjevacs?

I asked for their Y-DNA before. They said they don't know it.

They tested with FTDNA, so they'll have to take another test to know the Y-DNA.

    Bunjevci were Vlachs (pastoralists).
makes sense they plot more south than those Herzegovina Croats from densely populated valleys.

Ah, I see. Would be interesting, they may be related with Ante Starčević who was paternally also Bunjevac Croat
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ante_Star%C4%8Devi%C4%87

In Gorski kotar region southern-origin people are rare.

    Many? Never heard about them.

I know Starčević Serbs from Knin area.

Surname Starčević exist among Serbs from other regions. Around Loznica, around Sarajevo, in Semberija, in Užice area, near Doboj, Bosanska Krajina, southern Lika, near Čačak, Gacko etc.
