They are not from there necessarily. I spoke to the authors regarding this steep contrast within the samples. They replied that as far as they are aware, the coordinates that they provided in the paper, which point to Straseni, are either:
1) The average mid point for all the samples and they were collected from all over the country
2) An arbitrary location without any connection to the origin of the samples
They have forwarded my email to the lab at the university of Ufa, since those guys did the physical work of collecting the samples.

It seems what Strășeni is just an average, and all these samples are from every corner of the country. Băsescul contacted the authors of the study, he have more information.

Most of them plot close to each other, only some of thesm looks like outliers. As you can see, majority plot between Serbian and Moldavian dots.
