I literally had no idea about that ethnic group, had to google it. I think they must be something like the Tuvans or maybe even more purely Mongoloid.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. But with what? Either other Turks or Azerbaijani. Many Ahiska live in Kazakhstan and Southern Russia.
