Satu Mare
Second sample from Satu Mare, and kind of different from the first. Both are natives of the county though.

I wonder if this is some influence from Rusyn minority. Many Rusyns and Romanians(from Transylvania) were Greek Catholic, so perhaps common religion facilitated intermarriage?!
Is strange though, for example in my family the test shows the clear presence of smaller East European percentages, yet when I asked nobody knew about Slavic mixing.

There were a multitude of ethnicities living in Arad, during the time. The higher than average North Atlantic in some samples could be maybe attributed to Swabian presence in the area. And the fact that they have no idea about it is maybe because the admixture happend many generations ago, or perhaps their ancestors tried to keep it hidden.

I see.
I was just trying to figure out why a supposed half Lipovan from Romania on Reddit got 74% East European. Okay, let's assume the Lipovan side was 95+% EE. Then the Romanian side must be around 50% as well. Unfortunately she doesn't seem to care about Gedmatch and I'd love to see some Lipovans.

It depends on region. 50% it is above average for Wallachia for example. This is a good thread to see:

To be fair that's a very small contribution and at a fairly decent distance. I think that if I take them out the fit won't worsen considerably, so the model can be explained even without them. In general, the more to the North one goes, the higher in theory the admix similar to North Slavs increases. The opposite is true towards the South, where the similarity to Bulgarians increases.
