Finally! A Syrian Turkmen, not fully part but its very cool to see that. There were a lot of Turkmens in Syria, my tribe was once deported to Rakka. I am still asking what happened to them. Do you know from where, it looks like the person is from southern Syria? I never heard of Turkmens who migrated from Central Asia to Syria in 18/19th century.

No I don't know from where.. Maybe it's just some kind of family telling. I also have never heard of it. They don't really know themselves.

Half Turkmen and still ca. 5% EE, so the Turkmen side might be 10% or so. For Syria that's quite a bit.

Someone in the group said that Nogays were settled by the Ottomans in Syria/Golan in that time

There were a lot of Turkmens in Syria, before Turks migrated to Anatolia they settled in Syria. I don’t know since and until when, but there were Yörüks who spent the summer in Sivas and went to Aleppo in the winters.

I never heard something like that, just many Circissian were settled to Syria but Nogais?

Edit: Nogais were in Northsyria but no information about settlements. They were probably irregular soldiers?

Şam Türkmens were migrated to the Balkans in the 18th century thanks to the tribe wars between Turks and Arabs in the region. But their origin should be different than the Golan Turkmens. They were absorbed among Balkan Turks.

Two results from the region they were settled:
