Ukrainian academic regional k13 results - more than 100

All the samples are so far away from my Ukrainian mother, probably because of 2 grandparents born in Moldova.

Yes, that's probably the case. Did they identify as Ukrainian? Those results look typical to me for a person that's half Ukrainian and half Moldovan/Romanian.
But of course, local Ukrainians, who think that they have only Ukrainian heritage, can fall within the Moldovan/Romanian range at times if their locality culturally assimilated non-Ukrainians.

The weird thing is that my mother and her family always spoke Ukrainian and were Ukrainians according to their documents in Soviet times, but they looked differently from the rest. My mother even remembers being called a "Gypsy". There was an assimilation, I suppose. Even the surname looks like a Romanian surname with an added Ukrainian ending which I understand only now.

Yep, Ukrainization took place during USSR, so surnames like Sirbu became Sirbulenko and so on.

Vinnytsia oblast, but I think they moved there both from western and eastern Ukraine, it is very mixed, I understand that both my and my mother's samples will be quite far from Ukrainian academic samples and I am fine with it.

Well, Gypsy can be safely ruled out, as 1/4 of such ancestry would have manifested itself on an autosomal level. But the results from above don't reflect that. Chisinau was mostly populated by Jews at those times, but those results don't look Jewish influenced. She probably just had a more exotic phenotype and ethnically could have been 1/2 Moldovan since that's what the results hint at.

You shouldn't take it too seriously. They can be siblings and be further apart than some averaegs.
