Weidinger commanded one of the regiments of the 2nd SS "Das Reich" Panzer Division during World War Two, he was awarded the Knights Cross for his actions in Ukraine, and was later awarded the Oak Leaves to his Knights Cross for his actions in the Battle of the Bulge - basically defeating the opposite 3rd Armored Division at Manhay-Grandmenil before being forced on the defensive by overwhelming American forces. He wrote a book series about the Division's history after the war.(all of which I've read, btw, since I'm interested in military history)
Maybe its just me but I'm having trouble classifying him. At first I thought Atlanto-Med, but there is something distinctly Slavic/Eastern looking about him.
Very similar looking to actor Klaus Steinbacher, also a Bavarian, though Klaus is from the deep south of Bavaria while Otto was from northern part, in the Franconia region.
