A lesbian couple from Germany (no kidding). They are from NRW but #1 has roots in Silesia, East Prussia, Thuringia, NRW and Lower Franconia. #2 is of unknown origin, might be local Westfalian i.e. West German.

From Lucas's K36:
They might be the closest population on the continent to English, weirdly!

Interesting. Some seem to have a bit of Slavic blood. I'm going to troll the ones I know irl now. I live in a region full of Mennonites that fled during the Russian revolution but the towns are all named after cities in western Germany( Baden, Mannheim, New Hamburg, Luxemburg, Heidelberg etc)

Did not expect that. I thought the closest population to the English should be the Dutch. Except for Brittany being very similar to Southwest England. But I guess Northwestern Germans are very Germanic too. The problem is the region has a lot of people like those posted above.
Germans basically can range from Czech to British.

Maybe but now a huge number of people has roots in 2 and more parts of the country and dialects are rarely spoken in large cities. I read in Italy Southern Italians flooded Northern Italy during the Fascist period. Germany resettled almost all Polish/Czech German communities in former West Germany after WW2.

Starting in the 1950s, not in the fascist period. And this migration is continuing to this day without stopping.
